Editor,

I am confident that our National U-17 football team that was eliminated in the group stages of the on-going U-17 World cup in Mexico can do better in the future.

Though it’s very true we expected the boys to perform better than they did, it’s also very true this young side created hope for the nation that very soon, Rwanda will be at the helm of African football and indeed the world, if they keep performing like they did in Mexico.

It’s very hard not to expect better results next time especially due to the fact that it was the first time our national team had participated in a world cup tournament.

Though the team was involved in a number of friendlies before the tournament, they lacked the required experience that matches the pressure at tournaments of this caliber.

What we need to do is make the boys better and give them all they need.

As Rwandans, we need to do everything within our means and boost our team.

I would also like to call upon the entire nation, especially Rwandans living in Kigali to turn up at the Kigali International airport and welcome the U-17 National football team.
