GATSIBO — ARTEL Company has provided internet services to Murambi and Kiramuruzi sectors. The executive secretary of Murambi, Jackson Muvunyi while testing the internet modem this week, said they also installed two solar panels because the sector currently lacks electricity. He said the internet was timely.

"The timing was perfect because the sector had been promised laptops through the programme of one laptop per child; by the executive secretary of Rwanda Information Technology Authority (RITA),” Muvunyi said.

He noted that it would be less costly and more convenient for residents to have access to information from the sector.

"Sector residents who required information from the internet, had to travel all the way to Rwamagana to access the services, which was very expensive and time consuming. But today, he said, they have the services available in their locality.”

ARTEL has also promised internet connection to two primary schools and a health center in Murambi.

Vincent Murenzi, the executive secretary of Kiramuruzi, noted that the new service was important to transform villages through increased access to information.

"All including students, business community and working class in the area have access to internet services at the sector offices. We are even lucky we have five computers and wireless network which helps to cater for a good number of people surfing at the same time,” said Murenzi.
