Editor, I am Kenyan and recently travelled to Rwanda to meet a friend named Francis Asimwe. His family was killed during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. We also visited other friends living in Karongi District. What was surprising is that I found Asimwe’s other friend having lunch with people who killed his relatives during the Genocide.

What was surprising is that I found Asimwe’s other friend having lunch with people who killed his relatives during the Genocide.
I was shocked beyond belief by this uncommon act. I suppose other African countries could borrow a leaf from Rwanda on the essence of peace and reconciliation and the milestones Rwanda has attained after the Genocide.
I talked to Rwandans, of all walks of life, who now work together.
We saw what happened to our brothers and sisters during the 1994 Genocide and how the country has moved on since then. It is simply astonishing how Rwandans are determined to develop their country.
