Zigama Credit and Saving Scheme (CSS) has purchased a building in Remera, Kigali, where it will relocate from its current quarters in Kacyiru to pave way for the expansion of the Kigali Convention Centre.

Construction of the convention centre started in 2009 and is expected to end by the end of the year in what is set tp be a state-of-the-art structure that houses conference halls, shopping malls, arcades and executive offices.

The Director General of Zigama of Zigama CSS, Brig. Geoffrey Byegeka, disclosed that the bank partnered with the Military Medical Insurance (MMI) to purchase a building worth Rwf6 billion in Remera, which they will share as their new premises.

"Zigama paid 60 per cent whereas MMI paid 40 per cent to purchase the building, which is located near the Amahoro Stadium. We expect to move within two months,” Byegeka said.

Zigama CSS was inaugurated as a saving scheme for soldiers, policemen and workers within the institutions; however, it was later opened up to the Rwandan public.

Last year, Zigama’s profit increased to Rwf3.1 billion up from Rwf2 billion in 2009, whereas its assets increased from Rwf42b to Rwf53b in the same period.
