Editor,
I would like to thank The New Times for the constant updates on the U-17 World Cup currently underway in Mexico.
Our boys had really given it a go but a combination of bad luck and lack of pedigree saw us concede two goals against a much stronger England side.
The first goal was heartbreaking because it came in unexpected ways after we had hit the woodwork. The second goal was a brilliant individual effort.
The news that Uruguay drubbed Canada 3-0 and are actually considered group favourites did not do us any favour considering that we are facing the South American side today.
However, I believe, if our boys decided to give it a go and went all out against the South American country; we can get a good result and then face-off of with Canada.
While this seems hard, everything is possible in soccer. Such a chance comes once in a lifetime. With support, we can boost their confidence and you never know, we can advance past the group stages.
There is a possibility that we can make a few upsets given that this is our inaugural global showpiece. It happens in all tournaments. Ours won’t be the first. Go Junior Wasps. Make us proud.
