China sets new world record building ship carrying 24,116 containers

China set a new world record, on March 10, by building a large ship – MSC Tessa – capable of carrying 24,116 containers with more than 240,000 tons of cargo, marking another new record set by the country in the field of container ship building.

According to reports, the ship boasts of a combination of features including being environmentally friendly, highly efficient, low in energy consumption while scoring high on safety.

The ship designed by Hudong Zhonghua Company, has a length of 399.99 metres and a width of 61.5 metres.

The MSC Tessa broke the world record after ‘Changyi ship’ which was completed in June 2022 with the capacity to carry 24,000 containers.
