KICUKIRO - The Evangelical Restoration Church, yesterday, completed a three-day training of community health workers of Gikondo Sector, Kicukiro district about the benefits of male circumcision.

This was aimed at building their capacity in creating public awareness about the importance of circumcision so as to increase chances of preventing HIV/Aids transmission and infection.

"We are going to work in specific areas depending on the timeframe we have set to ensure that our residents acknowledge the need to circumcise,” said innocent Uwitonze, one of the trainees.

Bishop Constantin Gasore, one of the trainers said the training, and many others to follow, will address various social aspects that include family planning, best hygiene practices and others that aim at promoting a sense of duty.

"It is also in our mandate to ensure that parents view children as gifts from God and thus provide for them,” Gasore said.

"Family planning will help parents have a number of children they are able to cater for.”

The vice president of the church, Alphonse Seruhungo Ruhamyankiko, said the church is committed to work with other stakeholders in fighting HIV/Aids.
