Kirehe-312 members of Rwanda National Police (RNP), yesterday, completed a four-month special training course in various combat fields.
The training was conducted in Nasho sector, Kirehe District.
The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Internal Security, Musa Fazil Harerimana.
The Minister said that the graduates are expected to be of great service to society.
"RNP is on record for good performance...it is mainly due to training programs like the just concluded one,” he told the officers.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Emmanuel Gasana, reminded the police officers that they have a mandate to protect people and their property. He pointed out that such special training programs allow the Police to operate swiftly in intervention and rescue missions.
"As we encounter modern crimes, we need special training. This force is credible, quick and proactive in all conditions. It is this force that readies to combat cross-border criminals,” he said.
Gasana further revealed that Police will establish a number of schools to provide specialised skills to officers.
"We shall have a staff college, junior school, peace support centre, logistics school and others in the near future. As the old adage says, if you think education is expensive, then try ignorance.”
The special police course is the third of its kind to be completed.
