Ferrer extends Amavubi deal until 2025

Spanish gaffer Carlos Alos Ferrer has committed his future with Amavubi after penning a two-year contract extension.

Ferrer's initial one-year contract was scheduled to expire on March 31 before he agreed a new deal that that will keep him at the national team until March 2025.

With the new agreement, Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) expects the Spaniard to qualify Rwanda to the 2023 AFCON finals in Cote D'Ivoire.

Amavubi played seven matches under Ferrer where the team recorded one win, three draws and three defeats.

The results include a 1-1 draw with Mozambique and 1-0 defeat to Senegal during AFCON qualifiers.

After announcing his extension, Ferrer immediately summoned 30-man squad that he will use ahead of Rwanda’s upcoming two matches against Benin on March 22 and 27 in Porto-Novo and Huye respectively in the AFCON qualifiers.

Rayon Sports duo Elie Ganijuru and Hadji Iraguha, Simeon Iradukunda (Gorilla FC), Moise Nyarugabo (AS Kigali) and Didier Mugisha (Police) were handed their national team call up while Muhadjiri Hakizimana (Police FC), Olivier Niyonzima (AS Kigali), Jean Bosco Ruboneka (APR FC) and Faustin Usengimana (Al Qasim SC) were dropped.
