KIGALI - Employees of King Faisal Hospital (KFH-K) visited Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre to pay their respects to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Led by the hospital’s acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Alex M. Butera, the team started with a ‘Walk to remember’ march from Kinamba to the centre that is home to over 300,000 victims.

Butera noted that it was everyone’s responsibility to ensure that Genocide does not happen again, not only in Rwanda, but elsewhere in the world.

"Every means possible should be used in the fight against Genocide ideology based on how our country was affected by the 1994 tragedy,” Butera told the media.

He emphasised that giving testimonies and educating Rwandans about what the country went through would serve a purpose in confronting the Genocide ideology.

One of the staff members, Elisabeth  Rugina, called upon the public, especially the young generation, to develop a spirit of love and care for each other.

She explained that the aftermath of the Genocide calls for combined efforts in rebuilding the country.

"We should totally avoid discrimination and instead be identified by unity and togetherness.”

The staff donated Rwf 2.5 million to the centre.
