Musanze- Four men are being held at Musanze Police Station after they were arrested over dealing in counterfeit money.

Innocent Mberabagabo, Onesphore Uwagahutu, Emmanuel Habimana and Kabisa Bizimana were arrested yesterday for holding fake notes.

Two of them were arrested in Kinigi town, while others were found in possession of Rwf30,000 counterfeit notes in Musanze town, after a tip off from a local businessman.

The group was reportedly collaborating with the makers of counterfeit to sell the fake currency beginning with small denomination notes.

‘’They had money in denominations of Rwf2,000, and Rwf5,000 notes. When we discovered that the money was fake, we called the police,’’ one of the businesswomen told The New Times.

Musanze District Police Commander (DPC), Superintendent Vincent Kamanzi, said that police is probing those behind the plot.

‘’Business people have to be vigilant, especially with the currency they use, they have to report these suspected criminals,’’ Kamanzi said.
