POLICE’s prolific striker Meddie Kagere is keen to keep his scoring boots on during Sunday’s Peace Cup final against APR.

The 25-year-old, who has the Primus League golden boot award well within his grasp after topping the scoring charts with 18 goals, is eager to prove his quality against the toughest defense in the country.

Kagere failed to find the net during the sides’ league encounters but is backing himself to break that duck. The striker insists that there would be no better time to get off the mark than in Sunday’s final.

"It didn’t happen in the league but hopefully, it will come this Sunday. It’s a dream to play in a final and I hope that we (Police) shall have the last laugh,” he said before stressing the importance of the tie.

"Winning on Sunday will not only end out trophy drought but also give us a ticket to play in next year’s Orange Confederation Cup.”

Since Goran Kopunovic’s arrival last year, Police have gone from strength to strength. Besides reaching the Peace Cup final, they are also guaranteed to finish third in the league.

It has also been reported that the club is already looking to reinforce its squad ahead of next season. Some of the players who have been linked to the club include Rayon Sport right back Karim Mckenzie, Kiyovu winger Faud Ndayisenga and Amavubi Stars’ left back Abouba Sibomana.
