REMERA Buffalo almost had a cricket-like score in Sunday’s Inyange rugby league contest with Kamonyi’s Pumas.

The reigning champions thumped Puma 98-00, by far the heaviest win of the season.

However, going by the opening 20 minutes, one would have given the game to either side with Buffaloes not looking their dominant self.

In their haste to put as many tries on the scoreboard, the champions made so many knock-ons. There were over 20 scrum downs in the same period.

However, the tide turned in Buffaloes’ favour when its forwards decided to take matters in their own hands and make some hard hits that rattled the Pumas.

This paved way for the backs who made two quick tries through Patrick Leku. The half ended 30-00 in Buffaloes’ favour.

In the second half, it was obvious who was in charge as the Buffaloes run riot. Leku, Vincent Kamali, Moise Hassan and Charles Maina registered tries for the Buffaloes.

However, credit goes to the Pumas who kept a fighting spirit to the end.  After the game, there was a milkfest for all teams courtesy of Inyange Industries which sunk Rwf 10m in the league.

"I am so happy with the win but would like to extend thanks on behalf of all rugby players to Inyange Industries for the refreshments,” Buffalo stand-in captain, Kamali, said after the game.

Muhanga RFC and UNR Grizzlies’ game was stopped due to a heavy downpour. They, however, were consoled by the milk from Inyange.
