Gatsata - Police in Gatsata sector have arrested a woman suspected of killing her husband.
Marie Theresa Musabyimana, 35, allegedly confessed to hitting her husband on the head.
She said that on Saturday night at around 2 a.m., her husband knocked at the door and when she opened, he instead kicked her, which prompted her to pick a piece of wood and hit him on the head.
"We used to have conflicts and it was always due to his drunkenness and refusal to raise money to cater for the family,” she said.
Though Musabyimana confesses to slaying her husband, she claims it was an accident.
A police officer, who had attended a security meeting on Sunday, June 12, near the suspect’s home, was informed of groans stemming from a nearby house.
When he entered the house, he found the deceased unconscious and lying in a pool of blood.
The officer immediately arrested the victim’s wife and took the victim to Kibagabaga hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
Anatarie Mukaruyange, the Executive Secretary of Rubonobono Cell, said the family has been characterised by financial conflicts.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Theos Badege condemned the act.
"Government channels of justice are clear and known. People should always make it a point to report any complaints to relevant authorities instead of taking the law into their own hands”, Badege added.
