Malani Manzi, real name Alain Manzi, is a rising artiste with ambitions of taking the Rwandan music industry to places through his sound.
The budding artist might be new to your ears, but, his vocals and heavy bars are showing signs of changing the Afrobeats and RNB genre in Rwanda, as he proved in his recently released track.
Born in 2000, Malani has come a long way since he first started composing songs and singing in church choirs based in Kigali, Rwanda, where he grew up as a child.
"I started making music at a tender age through a church choir and ever since then, my focus has stayed on producing music. Launching my music career is a dream come true,” the young musician tells The New Times in an exclusive interview, adding that he started composing songs when he was only four years old.
At the age of 16, Malani started joining studio sessions with friends until when he joined Nyundo School of Arts and Music which he credits to have contributed in the rise of his music career.
Today, Malani is among the youngsters making music in Rwanda after launching his career with a single track titled ‘Amour’, which he believes will take his sound to greater heights.
Produced by big names in the industry such as Bob pro, G-Flat and directed by Gad, ‘Amour’ might be the next trend on local airwaves and televisions.
"The song portrays the love I have for a girl whom I failed to find a better name to call, and decided to call her Amour which translates to love in French. It is the genesis of my music career,” the artiste said, adding that the track was composed by Niyo Bosco, one of the best lyricists in Rwanda.
Future plans
For Malani, the future holds a lot for his career and among them is to drop back to back bangers.
This, he said, will kick off in May after dropping a second solo track among many other projects he looks to release this year.
"My goal is to take over, not only in Rwanda, but the whole region and overseas. This is just the beginning,” Malani added.
‘Amour’, Malani’s first release, is out on all major streaming platforms including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music among many others.
