Local artist, Edson Ngoga, commonly known as Pacson, is one of the most experienced hip-hop stars in Rwanda. He started singing in 2003 when hip-hop barely existed, but got famous in late 2006 after releasing his hit song, “Kigali Party”. He featured R&B singer, Daddy Cassanova, afro-beat star Rafiki and newcomer, Bably, who contributed a lot to the song’s success.

He featured R&B singer, Daddy Cassanova, afro-beat star Rafiki and newcomer, Bably, who contributed a lot to the song’s success.
The 23-year-old is also famous for mimicking African-American rapper, Tupac Shakur’s voice, lyrics and flow, almost to perfection. He was inspired by the former and that is where he derives his name "Pacson”.
He has released over 30 songs, most of which are collaborations with local top artists. His 2009 hit song, "Same Hood” featured fifteen of Rwanda’s top rappers, while "Invune” re-mixed version included thirteen musicians.
The rapper often makes showbiz headlines of conflicting with other artists like; hip-hop group, "Tuff Gang” afro-beat singer Eric Senderi, producer Lick Lick, and lately, Family Squad’s Simchezo.
"All those artists that I have ever had problems with are the ones who started the quarrels- I am a peaceful person,” he defends himself.
He is also one of the most prominent radio presenters, and has worked at his station since his high school days. Gifted with a good voice, fluent speech and entertaining ability, his radio shows are popular among the youths.
He plans to join University soon, to professionalise his career of journalism. He also hopes to chase his dream of singing internationally. Pacson believes that it is his time to shine, after many years of little success in music; "I know that now is my time to shine”
