ERIC Nshimiyimana will remain Amavubi’s assistant coach as the national football body (Ferwafa) conducts a thorough investigation into allegations that he involved himself in ‘juju’ so that the wasps could defeat Burundi in the 2012 Africa Nations Cup return leg qualifier in Bujumbura.

Last week, the former AS Kigali coach was suspended by APR but Ferwafa president Brig. General Jean Bosco Kazura is not in a rush to sideline him.

Kazura yesterday told Times Sport that the 39-year-old will retain his Amavubi job as the football body conducts a thorough investigation.

"We want to get to the bottom of this issue. So we have requested APR to assistant us with evidence that may help us,” Kazura said, before warning, "If what is being said really happened, then there could be some other people involved and we need to expose them.”

Reacting to his suspension, Nshimiyimana said that he was disappointed but not surprised. "Similar allegations came up in 2006 when I was assistant coach and I was sacked,” the former APR and Amavubi midfielder said.

Nshimiyimana is part of the memorable Amavubi team which qualified for the 2004 Africa Nations Cup in Tunisia.

During his APR days, he won several trophies with the club.
