Nyagatare earmarks over 700m for roads

NYAGATARE - Nyagatare District has earmarked over 700 million for road construction from the Community Development Fund (CDF). According to the District Director of Infrastructure, Sam Rutagwenda, over Rwf 400 million will be spent on stone-paved roads in Nyagatare town; while over Rwf 300 million will be spent on Karama-Kiyombe road.

NYAGATARE - Nyagatare District has earmarked over 700 million for road construction from the Community Development Fund (CDF).

According to the District Director of Infrastructure, Sam Rutagwenda, over Rwf 400 million will be spent on stone-paved roads in Nyagatare town; while over Rwf 300 million will be spent on Karama-Kiyombe road.

"We got funds from CDF. Construction works have already begun,” he said.

"We contracted ECOGEM Construction Company and we expect quality roads. They will be charged with constructing roads as well as trenches,” Rutagwenda said.

He added that in future the district also has plans to construct a road that will connect Nyagatare-Kanyinya-Kagitumba to the tune of Rwf 1 billion."
