Twenty seven clubs have been confirmed as participants in this year’s volleyball championship due on March 8 in Butare.
"We are happy for the trend and we hope that it continues so that the second league can also start next year," said Gertrude Kubwimana, Executive Secretary of the National Volleyball governing body, FRVB.
The number has risen from 19 to 27. Fourteen are female clubs while 13 are male. Kubwimana however said that the division one will host only 12 teams next season. FRVB has plans to start a second division league which will include junior players from different schools. But the numbers of clubs to make up that league are yet to be disclosed, Kubwimana said. Some of the new entries for this year’s championship include EPM, Karongi, ES, Ngoma district, Rwamagana and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA).
