I recently travelled to Rwanda and I was shocked to see unbelievable development the country has attained over the last seventeen years.

I could not expect to witness such major developments in a country almost shattered to ashes during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

I believe other African countries could learn from Rwandans’ unity, peace and reconciliation efforts  since the Genocide. I talked to many Rwandans and they all seemed reconciled and united more than ever.

For instance, survivors and genocide perpetrators have simply begun working together, something the world never expected, at least within only 17 years.

Rwandans make the country proud with their sense of forgiveness and hard work. I moved to the countryside and realised the magnitude of what had happened to our fellow humanity during the Genocide.

However, what is baffling is Rwandans determination to move on and develop their motherland.

It is, therefore, sad to hear revisionists and other sadists critise Rwanda everyday. Indeed, if you have not been to Rwanda recently, it is hard to believe what the country has achieved.
