Editor,
This letter is with reference to your article in yesterday’s issue of The NewTimes titled: "New programme to support SME’s launched.”
It is very encouraging to read about the One Village One Product (OVOP) programme launched on Monday by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy.
As the Japanese Ambassador, Kunio Hatanaka very rightly said, this programme will promote job creation and income generation within local communities.
The OVOP programme will certainly up-lift Rwanda’s SME sector. After the success of the pilot project in the four chosen districts, Huye, Musanze, Nyagatare and Rubavu, it will be very exciting to observe how the Rwanda Development Board, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Japanese Embassy all work together to benefit, by the year 2014, around 5000 business groups in all the country’s 30 districts.
