Face to face with Belinda KakaziMore young women are shaping their own destiny and the lives of the communities around them.

In an exclusive interview, Teen Times introduces Belinda Kakazi, one of the founders of AIESEC Rwanda (a student’s organization).

Tell us about yourself.
I am a fourth year student at the National University of Rwanda (NUR) pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Economics.

I am self motivated and I believe in working hard as a tool for a better tomorrow.

Tell us about AIESEC?

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-run organization that focuses on providing a platform for youth leadership development.

They offer youth the opportunity to participate in international internships, experience leadership and participate in a global learning environment.

It is present in over 110 countries and territories, active in over 1700 universities, and has over 50000 members worldwide..

When did you join AIESEC?

I joined AIESEC in March 2009 when it was introduced at my university.

What is your most memorable experience with AIESEC?

I would say it was my exchange experience in Uganda in November 2009.

I went to Uganda through the AIESEC exchange program for a period of six weeks. During that time, I volunteered at King’s Daughters Ministries, a sort of rehabilitation centre for girls between the ages of six to 24 years.

I interacted with the girls at the centre, played with the young ones, and carried out leadership training for them.

This experience was very eye opening and a challenge for me. It also proved to me that if we try, we can make a difference in the lives of others.

Although I went there to work, I also learned so much that I will remember for years to come. 

What is your message for the youth?

I encourage all young people to take up the means of change! To the women, this is our time!
