SFB takes over varsity students chair

The Guild President of the School of Finance and Banking (SFB), Emmanuel Murenzi, was on Sunday sworn-in as the new head of the Forum Des Associations General Des Etudiants (FAGER), an association of all university students in the country.

He replaces Fabrice Habanabakize of Université d’Agriculture, de Technologie et d’ Education de Kibungo (UNATEK), who completed his one-year term in office last month. The ceremony was held at the Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) campus in Kimironko. Murenzi beat Jean Claude Rukemampunzi of the Université Libré de Kigali (ULK).

Also sworn-in were Elmex Kayiranga (First Vice President) from the Institute of Agriculture and Livestock (ISAE) Busogo, Anne Marie from UNATEK (Second Vice President) and Martin Ruvugabigwi of Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), who was elected as Secretary General.

Others were Reuben Habarurema from ISAE Busogo (Treasurer), Aimable Mwananawe of ULK (production and planning officer) and ULK’s Julianne Umuhoza, who became the association’s Public Relations and Protocol officer.

"We are going to fight against genocide ideology through a multidimensional approach both within and outside universities," Murenzi said in a brief speech.

The guest of honour, Biraboneye Ngabirano, who is KIE’s director in charge of academic affairs, promised the new executive KIE’s financial support. The elections were held last month.
