MUHANGA - Information technology will now be adopted to improve the processing and management of salary schemes of civil servants, the Minister of Labour, Anastase Murekezi said.
He made the remarks while presiding over the closure of a training program for 326 staff in processing salaries.
The training was held at Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management (RIAM) in Muhanga District.
Murekezi said; "the training is very important and introduction of ICT into the system will improve service delivery by civil servants, and they will no longer have to travel long distances to claim their salaries.” he announced.
The minister added that RIAM will continuously provide the training, which, he said, is vital to civil servants as well as national development strategies.
The training was sponsored by the World Bank in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour and RIAM.
Participants said that the lack of ICT skills had been a major hindrance to timely preparation of civil servants’ salaries.
