BUGESERA - The construction of a Rwf 330 million bus and taxi terminal in Bugesera District is nearing completion, bringing to an end parking woes
in Nyamata town.

Previously, there were unnecessary conflicts and disorder due to lack of parking space, said Frank Rusanganwa, a taxi driver in Nyamata.

Jean Claude Murekezi, a commuter taxi driver, who plies the Kigali-Nemba route, said that the park will be a turning point for the district.

" Nyamata has no  taxi park...drivers operate in a haphazard manner with limited space,” he said.

Louis Rwagaju, the District Mayor, said that the complex will accommodate a number of businesses too.

According to the Mayor, they are optimistic that with the construction of an international airport in Bugesera in the pipeline, Nyamata town will handle huge traffic in the near future.

"This is a town undergoing a rigorous facelift...proximity to the capital city; highway to Burundi and the impeding airport, all speak volumes about the future of this town.”

"A lot of extra features were included in the construction of the park, including marked parking bays, toilet facilities, shelter and market stalls for small business owners,” he said.

However, provincial leaders, led by Dr. Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, recently warned the constructors on some imperfections.

The governor complained that the ground does not seem compacted enough to support the weight of vehicles.
