After failing to win the Uganda Open title, Rwanda’s seed two Jean Claude Gasigwa has shifted his focus to the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Kenya Open/Money Circuit which gets underway today in Nairobi.
Gasigwa told Times Sport yesterday that he is eyeing his best in the Kenya Open despite losing to Zimbabwe’s Martin Dzuwa in the final of the Uganda Open tennis tournament which climaxed on Monday at Lugogo courts Kampala.
"It was a poor show for me but Dzuwa showed brilliance in the final but I’m hoping for a better performance in Kenyan," Gasigwa said yesterday.
Gasigwa lost to Dzuwa in straight sets 4-6 2-6. Dzuwa pocketed Frw 0.21m while Gasigwa settled for Frw 0.15m.
In the women’s final, undisputed regional tennis ‘queen’ Evelyn Otula maintained her supremacy over Rosette Musoke with a 6-1,6-2 straight sets win.
It was the third successive victory for the 32-year-old Kenyan after winning the first two legs of the 2008 ITF/CAT East African Money Circuit.
The Kenya leg started off yesterday with qualification matches. |
