Rwanda’s Paralympics will be assisted to become a role modal in the region, a lead consultant from the International Paralympics Committee (IHC) has said.
Doctor Heather Cameron, IHC Organizational Development Initiative lead Consultant, said recently ahead of a two day workshop with the National Paralympics Committee(NPC) at Amahoro Stadium.
"I ‘m here to help Rwanda Paralympics build Organizational Development Capacity," Cameron said, Rwanda was chosen because of its relevant help to other neighbouring countries and we to help her become a lead in the region."
She said Rwanda was chosen amidst a tough competition which included Kenya, Azerbaijan, Uruguay, Tunisia, and Capevade.
The country has received applauds from its East African neighbours especially Burundi.
"Rwanda has been sharing good information with its neighbours." She said.
In addition, the National Paralympics Committee is to benefit from Euros 3.000 start up fund to develop its Organizational Capacity for the next three years.
Cameron said the funds are planned to assist NPC build capacity in fundraising programs, Organizational capacity, and in outreach programs.
"We are happy for the fund. It will help us in many aspects where we have lagged due financial and capacity reasons," said NPC president Dominique Bizimana.
The NPC Vice president applauded the initiative and said that the money would be used in training more Paralympics technicians.
