Dear editor,

The Rwandan Government is running press adverts calling for investors who would be interested to invest in the construction of three Million litre Petrol and Oil reserves. Following what transpired in Kenya after the disputed December 27 2007 elections that sparked off a national chaos and violence, all land locked countries in the great lakes region which uses the lift valley as a gateway to the world through Mombassa were caught with their pants knee high.

No country, including Rwanda had prepared for the worst, with the lift valley impassable, our economies and National Security was at stake.

Petrol prices sky rocketed, consumer goods followed the course; the only alternative was to turn our eyes to Dares -salaam as the only escape route. No one would blame the government for such eventualities, however planning and forward thinking which Rwanda has exhibited of build petrol reserves is answering our worries.

However, to me I think Petrol reserves is a matter of National security, and failing to respond would be great irresponsibility. The venture however calls for partnership with different stakeholders in the country and elsewhere in the world.
