Another frustrating week for me! I lost some money, at that time of the month when you really can’t afford to lose any cent. I’m yet to come to terms with my loss, the only consolation being that salary will be in any day now.

I’m still trying to figure out where my money and I parted but that’s a bit hard considering that I went to three different places that day. I went to a pharmacy in town and I remember placing my purse on the counter as I checked the syrup I was about to buy. But it was only there for a few minutes and I’m pretty sure no one touched it.

Next was the saloon where I spent close to two hours. I held my bag the whole time, only placing it down to head to the sink to have my hair washed. I’m a regular at this saloon and I’ve never lost anything there.

But they have a new girl filling in for one of the hairdressers who just had a baby. I hate to point fingers especially when I don’t have proof but I just have this feeling that maybe she got her hands on my purse for the few minutes it was on the chair.

My last stop that day was a friend’s house. I’d really wanted to go home early but it was her birthday and there was a small party at her place that evening. It’s easy to say this is the more likely crime scene since there were many people there and we danced, took lots of pictures and generally partied. But I’m hard-pressed to pinpoint a culprit from that group of close friends and family, and so no, I don’t think it was here either. So where?

Honestly, I don’t know and I’ve decided to stop trying to figure it out. My other frustration was the neighbour’s iron which decided to stop working while I was using it. I didn’t do anything, I swear. The thing just stopped working. Bad luck I guess. I tried to explain the same to said neighbor but from the expression on his face, I know he expects me to replace it.

I should just have bought my own, so I stop this business of borrowing people’s appliances. Just when I thought I’d had enough trials for one week, my phone went dead after it dropped from my work shirt pocket.

I rarely say the "F” word but I did this time. Whatever I did to deserve all this. Every now and then, emergencies like these come up and yet I never seem to be prepared for them. Well I at least have some money coming in but that means I’ll have to put other plans I’d made for it on hold.

If only I hadn’t lost my money. So if you’re the culprit, please don’t clap your hands in glee, celebrating how easily you got off. You can come quietly and we will talk about it like adults. I know that things are tough for everyone and I’m not above temptation myself.

I promise not to tell anyone else about it but if the idea of a chat is hard for you, then feel free to slip the money back into my purse the same way you took it out. I’ll be waiting.
