KIGALI - The City of Kigali (KCC) yesterday presented 50 laptops to teachers whose schools excelled in last year’s national examinations.

The event was presided over by the State minister in charge of primary and secondary education, Dr. Mathias Harebamungu

22 O’level teachers and 28 primary school teachers were recognised during the KCC education sector review

The Minister asked them to play a major role in the country’s social-economic development through working hard and delivering better education standards to students.

He asked them to put in place mechanisms that will enable schools to have a harmonised fee structure, citing that both primary and secondary schools around Kigali city have different schools fees structure yet they offer similar education services.

"The main objective of this donation is to thank your outstanding teaching performance last year and also motivate other teachers around Kigali to strive for quality education as well,” the KCC vice Mayor in charge of social affairs, Hope Tumukunde, said.

She promised that KCC would donate laptops to outstanding teachers every year.

A teacher at Notre Dame Citeau Sister Grace Mukeshima said, "I thank KCC for donating laptops to us because this will enable us to easily carry out our daily teaching activities and to get more skills in ICT.”
