KIGALI - The outgoing director of German Development Cooperation, Kfw, Dr. Stephan Kliengebiel, has described Rwanda’s policies as exceptional.

Kliengebiel made these remarks during a ceremony to welcome the incoming KfW head, Daniella Beckmann.

He appreciated Rwandans’ contribution towards the development of their country that has remarkably improved in a very short time.

"It was not just a great privilege to follow the discussion around budget support, but it also gave me a lot of important insightful views on policy making and policy priorities in the country,” Kliengebiel said.

"I think to manage a country with limited resources is not an easy task. Against this background, I very much appreciate what many dedicated Rwandan women and men are contributing towards the development of the country”.

He added that, the trips he has made to rural areas of Rwanda were enlightening, adding that that he was grateful for the interactions he has had with Rwandans.

"If I come again in the country, I would like to invest more time and efforts in this regard,” he concluded.

Kampenta Pitchette Sayizonga, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, acknowledged the increased support from Germany.

"Germany used to be at the bottom of the list, but it is now among the top three (donors). They have responded positively to our call,” she said.
