RWANDA’s female gospel group, Blessed Sisters was nominated for the Africa Gospel Awards, due in July 9 at the Ultra Modern Lighthouse Hall in London, UK.
Founded in 2008, the Blessed Sisters comprises sisters Rebecca Barinda, Peace Benedata and Dorcas Asiimwe.

Barinda, the lead singer said the group was nominated after winning the Groove Awards 2010.

"We’re expected to compete with other nominees from other East African countries and the best artistes will compete with finalists from across Africa at the finals, Barinda said.

 "We really need everyone’s support to win the competition,” she added.
 
Other nominees are Exodus (Uganda), Fabrice and Joy (Burundi) and Daddy Owen (Kenya).

Wilberforce Murengezi, the manager of the Blessed Sisters said: "We’re grateful to those who supported the group to win the Groove Awards. We still ask for your support to help them bring the award home.”

Expected to perform at the grand ceremony will be Nigerian-based gospel rockstar EBEN, Kenny K’ore and RoofTop MCs and South African-based Uche Agu.

Others are UK’s finest artistes MOBO award-winner Victizzle, Sonnie Badu, Mahali Selepe, Diana Hamilton, Aaron T Aaron and Rebecca.

Founded in 2009, the Africa Gospel Music Association serves as the face and voice of the Africa gospel/Christian music community worldwide and is dedicated to exposing, promoting and celebrating the gospel through Africa-fusion music of all styles.

It is, thus, by no means a competition but an event that honours and recognises some of our most talented and hardworking African gospel artistes.
