Editor,
I wish to respond to a story that appeared in yesterday’s issue of The New Times titled "Rwandan peace keepers in Khartoum decorated”. The role played by our gallant soldiers based in Darfur is indeed a success and their intervention has saved many Sudanese lives.
The decoration of the 6th Rwandan Contingent in Darfur for carrying out their tasks professionally makes us proud. Our soldiers should keep the flame burning as we are fully behind them.
The professionalism exhibited in Darfur and elsewhere is a clear testimony that our government under the able leadership of President Paul Kagame has instilled a culture of discipline among our soldiers.
Before 1994, soldiers were known to be killers of innocent civilians. Today, everything has changed and soldiers respect the rule of the law.
I wish to commend the current leadership for establishing a government that respects the rule of the law.
Innocent Rangira
