SELLAS Tetteh has finally opened up on his change of heart over Olivier Karekezi’s inclusion in Amavubi’s provisional 27-man squad.

The former captain was overlooked for CHAN and the opening 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Benin provoking Amavubi fans to criticise the Ghanaian.

However, Tetteh insists that his decision to summon the player had nothing to do with the fans’ reaction.

"I have been keeping track on Karekezi and I must say he has been in good form. He is scoring scorings for his club and that’s the only way you can judge a striker,” he noted.

"Bokota, Dady Birori and Kalisa Mao have also done well at their respective clubs so it was only fair to give them a chance,” he added.

Ferwafa Advance party travels to Bujumbura tomorrow

In a related development, the local football governing body (Ferwafa) is expected to send officials to Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura to scout on their opponents.

While Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa declined to reveal names, he confirmed that the officials would among other things monitor the Swallows’ training sessions.

Ferwafa is leaving nothing to chance in the build-up to Sunday’s match after reports that the Burundians are planning to frustrate Amavubi by booking them in a bad hotel.

In response, Ferwafa has refused to disclose the team’s hotel and schedule while in Burundi.

The team jets out Saturday morning and will hold a training session at Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium (the venue for the qualifier).

After last month’s 3-1 victory, the two teams swapped places. Rwanda climbed into third place with three points while Burundi dropped at the foot of the Group (H) with a point. Ivory Coast maintained top spot (nine) after beating Benin who are second on four points.
