FOLLOWING his return to the national team fold, former Amavubi skipper Olivier Karekezi is buzzing with confidence ahead of Sunday’s Africa Nations Cup Group H qualifier against Burundi.

The Östers IF striker is part of seven professionals who have been summoned by Amavubi head coach Sellas Tetteh and is expected to jet in this morning.

Speaking from Sweden, Karekezi told Times Sport that he hopes to make the most of Tetteh’s change of heart (including him in the provisional 27-man squad).

"It’s been a while since I last played for the national team so it’s a huge honour to be back and I want to make the most of it,” the former APR player.

Meanwhile, Kalisa Mao, Bokota Labama (Motema Pemba) and Birori Dady (Lupopo FC) were supposed to have joined camp yesterday.

Last month, Rwanda beat Burundi 3-1 to leapfrog the latter into third place (three points).

Ivory Coast is at the helm with nine points, Benin is second on four points while Burundi is at the foot of the group with one points.

Gabon and Equatorial Guinea will co-host the tournament.
