Rwanda has been pooled in Group B alongside Asia giants China and Caribbean nation Trinidad and Tobago in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Qualifier 2023 that will take place from May 6-7 in Israel.
In December 2022, Rwanda finished their FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2022 campaign in Cairo, Egypt, on an impressive note after grabbing the third place following a 21-17 victory over Tunisia to win a bronze, the first medal the country has ever won in the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup.
A third-place finish was the least Moise Mutokambali’s men could achieve at the continental tournament after they lost to Madagascar by 21-14 in the semi-finals.
Twelve teams - six in each of men and women categories- will compete for the last three men's and women's tickets to the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2023, which will take place in Vienna, Austria, on May 30-June 6.
In Group A, Israel will face a tough task against Hungary and dangerous New Zealand, who won silver at last year's FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup despite performing undeir their underdog status.
