African Day cerebrated in Geneva

Different African ambassadors yesterday gathered in Geneva Switzerland to cerebrate the African day with the main theme “Promotion of Education in Africa”. It was organized by the “Spouses of African Ambassadors in Geneva” an association of African ambassador in Switzerland.

Different African ambassadors yesterday gathered in Geneva Switzerland to cerebrate the African day with the main theme "Promotion of Education in Africa”. It was organized by the "Spouses of African Ambassadors in Geneva” an association of African ambassador in Switzerland.

"The event that brought together prominent representatives of the administration of the City of Geneva, the African Ambassadors as well as senior officials working in international organizations in Geneva, was aimed at strategizing ways of promoting education on African continent,” a statement reads

During the event, Folk Group "URUNANA” a Rwanda cultural performers that is based in Geneva entertained the guests.
 Jacqueline Karekezi the president of Folk Group "URUNANA noted that it was great opportunity to showcase Rwandan culture overseas.

"It was an opportunity to promote the oral culture of Rwanda. The aim of this group is to ensure that these young people can retain their Rwandan culture,” she said.
Marie Nkou of Cameroon, acknowledged that the funds raised during the occasion would be used to finance some projects for disadvantaged and vulnerable children in Africa by supporting them to pursue their studies.

Rwandan diplomats from the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda in Geneva also attended the event.
