KIGALI - Officials from the Punj Lloyd Group (PLG) joined over thirty residents of Ishema Village, Kiyovu Sector in community work, Umuganda

The group visited the country to explore investment opportunities in infrastructure and health.

The Chief Financial Officer of PLG, Kalyan Chakrabarti, said that participating in Umuganda gave him an opportunity to contribute to the cleanliness of the city and interact with residents.

"I have travelled to almost 28 countries, but Kigali is the cleanest and most secure city of them all,” Chakrabarti said in an interview yesterday.

"These are the two most important requirements that attract investors. Although people outside are not well educated about Rwanda’s activities, whoever visits Rwanda knows that Umuganda has greatly contributed to the country’s cleanliness.”

The local leader of Ishema Village, Francois Kanengwa, commended the investors for their spirit in cleaning the village.

"When people participate in activities that bind Rwanda, it makes us proud because it implies that they support us,” she said.

A delegation from PLG met with President Kagame last week and held discussions concerning future investments in the country.
