Jazz music lovers are in for yet another big treat from Uganda’s star Daddy Andre, Kenyan Reggae and RnB legend Wyre and talented Rwandan vocalist Alyn Sano. The mega live concert is scheduled for Friday, March 31 at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV).
It will be the first time that Daddy Andre and Wyre will be performing at the Kigali Jazz Junction (KJJ), and in Rwanda. There is so much anticipation from the artistes given the names and hits all the artistes have made in their respective countries over the years.
Their performances come after a successful edition held in February headlined by Kidum, B2C and Confy.
Axelle Umutesi, Communications Consultant at RG-Consult, told The New Times that as organisers they figured it was the best time they now give more attention to artistes from East Africa since there have been many performances from Nigerian artistes lately in Kigali.
"Kigali Jazz Junction is all about live music and we always look for artistes who can do live music and entertain our audience. We have recently had performances from Burundi and Uganda, which is why we thought of another artiste from East Africa and decided to bring Wyre. Wyre has not released new songs lately however, he made hit songs in the past that people would love to see him perform and moreover for the first time in Rwanda,” said Umutesi.
She added that there is another East African artiste yet to be announced who will headline KJJ this March.
Some of Daddy Andre’s hit songs include ‘Tugende mu church’, ‘Sikikukweeka’ and ‘Umwana wa bandi,’ while for Wyre ‘Nakupenda Pia’, ‘Sina Makosa’ and ‘Kingston Girl,’ are some of the songs that made him a household name in the region. Revelers also look forward to watching Alyn Sano performing her hit songs like ‘Radio’, ‘Fake Gee’, ‘Boo and Bae’ and ‘Say Less’ among others.
KJJ has been attracting renowned names in the entertainment industry across Africa since its inception. It has become a prominent fixture, not only for local music lovers but also members of the corporate and diplomatic circles.
Tickets for the concert are already available on www.rgtickets.com for RWF 10,000 Ordinary, RWF 15,000 VIP, RWF 35,000 VVIP, RWF 250,000 a table of 8 people.
