RUBAVU - A two-day retreat for Permanent Secretaries opened, yesterday, in Rubavu District with a call to ensure inter-ministerial coordination of government programmes for better implementation.

The Minister for Cabinet Affairs Protais Musoni : "Leaders must be knowledgeable of what is happening in other ministries and sectors as well to coordinate and fast track implementation of government programs”.

Musoni said that after realising there was lack of coordination in implementation of ministerial activities, it was necessary for the retreat to assess their challenges.

"Speedy implementation of programs leads to quick service delivery and the development of the country in general,” he added.

The Permanent Secretaries are discussing challenges in the implementation of programs, strategies for improved communication in government institutions besides conducting a training session on leadership skills.

The retreat will also tackle leadership skills, knowledge in a wide range of issues, alignment of resources and activities and creating an enabling environment, among others.

"There is a slow pace in implementation of programs; so we are seeking solutions to this problem,” said Eugene Barikana, Director of Cabinet in the Office of the Prime Minister.
