Editor,
I was shocked to read reports in English papers claiming that the Rwandan government was targeting "political dissidents” in the United Kingdom namely; Rene Mugenzi and Jonathan Musonera.
I don’t know if I am wrong or if I haven’t been following the politics of my country for quite a while and I stand to be corrected.
We have seen politicians come and go, new names cropping up as others go into exile. But neither have the names of Mugenzi and Musonera appeared anywhere in the country’s political circles.
The two "individuals” who are enjoying their time in the limelight are not known to Rwandans as politicians or at least people who held influential positions in the past, be it public or private.
For someone to wake up and label them "political dissidents” and then accuse a government of an independent country of attempting to assassinate them is not only insulting but also undermines the sovereignty of a nation.
Who are these individuals to be hunted by the Government of Rwanda? I hope there would be thorough investigations into these claims before conclusions are drawn.
I live and work in UK, but I must admit, I had not heard about these guys.
