KIGALI - Rwanda will be home to internationally renowned flight operations services company NEXUS.

Middle East Flight Operations Services Company, NEXUS, announced the establishment of NEXUS Africa with the set-up of its new Flight Operation Centre (FOC) in Kigali.

This will be a first for NEXUS in Africa, as well as the first of its kind in the continent.  The move is a partnership with the Government of Rwanda.

The deal to set up the facility was finalised, last week, in Geneva, Switzerland by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), John Gara, and Nexus Chairman Mohammed Al-Zeer.

The NEXUS Chairman, Mohammed Al-Zeer, said the decision to settle for Rwanda was inspired by the country’s vision to become a regional aviation hub.

"We at NEXUS are very excited about the new NEXUS Africa since it is the first step in our global expansion and we believe Rwanda to be the perfect place for our inaugural Africa base,”

"Our ultimate aim is to be globally recognised as the leading African provider of flight operations services, employing the best, serving the elite and being respected by industry leaders. This is just the first step.” Al-Zeer said.

The RDB CEO, Gara, said that NEXUS entry into Rwanda will not only benefit Rwandans but the whole of Africa.
"We are delighted to welcome NEXUS into our country as their services will provide links for travellers all over the world, not just to Rwanda but to the whole of Africa,”
"This move is aligned with our vision as well as our initiatives to promote tourism and trade and to also improve aviation safety and security within the entire region. We are very pleased that NEXUS will participate and aid us in our endeavours,” Gara said

The centre itself will be extremely advanced, boasting state-of-the-art technology in flight operations services to cater for local and international customers alike.

NEXUS will recruit and train local staff to the highest international standards and deliver a wide range of services, the superior level of which clients have only come to expect of the company.

Being the only flight centre of its kind in the region, NEXUS aims to offer complete round the clock support and back-up facilities for the NEXUS Africa through it is well established Flight Operations Centre out of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Manamah, Bahrain.

Currently Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority is working to make the country a regional hub for air transport operation by ensuring aviation safety and security as well as providing a conducive environment of the country’s airport.
According to RDB, Rwanda receives hundreds of thousands of tourists every year and has witnessed exponential growth annually.

With this strategically placed fully equipped state-of-the-art FOC, lying at the heart of Africa, NEXUS is well positioned to meet needs of its clients – VIP fleet operators, private aircraft owners, and low cost airlines - throughout the entire continent and beyond.
