URUGWIRO VILLAGE - President Paul Kagame yesterday met the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) head Pastor E A. Adeboye, at Village Urugwiro.

The Pastor is in the country to commission the newly constructed headquarters of RCCG in Rwanda. The Ultra modern church is situated at Migina, Remera in Gasabo District.

Speaking to reporters shortly after meeting the President, the Minister of Local Government James Musoni, who accompanied the pastor, said that Adeboye came to greet the president.

Musoni said that Adeboye who is in Rwanda for the first time thanked the president for his exemplary leadership and facilitating Rwanda’s progress.

"He thanked him for upholding the peace in the country and promised the President that he will continue to pray for Rwanda so that the visible development continues,” Musoni said.

The church was established in Rwanda in March 2002. Apart from preaching the gospel, RCCG Rwanda reaches out to people with programs like income generating activities for women.

Presently, RCCG is sponsoring 50 students through scholarships. The church also provides food and other household items to the homeless among other programs.
Adeboye said that he met the president and prayed for him. "When I visit a nation, I visit the President and pray for him. I assured him that we would pray for this nation.” said Adeboye.  His ministry has churches in over 140 countries across the world.

He said that RCCG preaches holiness. "We want to show people the way to heaven. We also believe that when you are Christian, you should not only make it to heaven, but also while on earth, you enjoy good health and be free from demonic forces,” he said. 

The church whose origin is Nigeria has branches in several African nations including, C’ote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Gambia, Cameroon, and South Africa.

It also has branches in Europe and USA.
