I would like to commend The New Times for a great job done informing us about the developments as they unfold at Iwawa’s Rehabilitation and Vocational Development Centre.

I have been a keen follower of the events on this island due to the attention it has attracted both locally and internationally.

However, I would like to say that despite much criticism, the government went ahead to build a model rehabilitation and vocational skills training centre that now defines the island.

I therefore salute our government for a job well done, as well as the 752 pioneer graduates who persisted and finally achieved whatever they aspired to during their time at Iwawa.

Every Rwandan must be proud to see former street children, drug addicts and yobs reformed into responsible citizens.

This has not happened anywhere else and for that, we commend our government.

I call upon all Rwandans with development projects to employ and utilise the skills of the new Iwawa graduates. By so doing we, too, shall have done our bit in nation building.
