Rayon Sport’s trophy drought continues yesterday after they were eliminated from Peace Cup at the quarterfinal stage by Police Fc on penalties 5-4 at Mumena artificial turf. Normal time ended with the score level at 2-2.

The Blues conceded just after 14 minutes when Police right back Fabrice Twagizimana scored from the half way line. The law enforcers continued their domination of the match despite missing the services of Primus leading goal scorer Kagere Meddie.

Left winger Eric Ndahayo put Police two up on the half way mark and the first half ended with Police leading 2-0.

Coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira took off defender Alou Gaseruka and brought on Djamal Mwiseneza and it quickly paid off when the latter’s cross was met by Peter Kagabo to pull one back.

Titte Ntamuhanga scored the Blues’ second but Police held on till the end of the match.

Abed Mulenda missed his penalty in the result spot kicks. Police progress to the semi-finals, where they will play the winner of today quarterfinal clash between Muhanga and Mukura.

In the other quarterfinal match, Amavubi Stars’ midfielder Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza scored his 14th goal of the season, which helped APR beat his former club, Kiyovu 1-0.

The league champions will play the winner of today’s quarterfinal tie between AS Kigali and Marines.
