KIYOVU need one more point to seal a second spot finish in the Primus league and boost their chances of playing continental football next season.

The Green baggies showed how desperate they are to get their hands on the Rwf5m cash prize reserved for the league runner-up after thrashing relegation-bound Mukura 4-1 at Mumena stadium.

Eric Serugaba scored a brace while Yusuf Ndayishimiye and Jabir Irambona netted the other goals. Corneille Murwanashyaka scored Mukura’s consolation.

At Kigali Regional Stadium, Police’s chances of leapfrogging Kiyovu were blown out of the window after a 3-0 defeat against newly crowned champions APR.

The army side won easily despite playing with ten men for 50 minutes.

Meanwhile, Rayon Sport and La Jeunesse swapped places after mixed results. The Blues fell to Amagaju (0-1) while Emmanuel Ruremesha’s La Jeunesse thrashed Marines 2-0 to move into fourth place.

Action continues today when Etincelles host AS Kigali and Musanze battle Muhanga.

The league will then be put on hold until June 8 to allow the national team –Amavubi Stars prepare for their 2012 Nations Cup return leg qualifier against Burundi on June 5.

Twenty one players are expected to enter camp this Sunday at La Palisse Nyandungu.
