Rwanda won by 26 runs

SENSIBLE batting and disciplined bowling were on full display yesterday as Rwanda finally ended their five-match losing streak against Malawi at the on-going ICC Africa Division 2 T20 Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa..

The team posted a defendable score of 126 for 5 after good batting performances from opener Audifax Byiringiro (44) and Eric Dusingizimana (43). Arjun Kalaria was the highlight of Malawi’s bowling attack with two wickets.

In the second innings, Malawi was dismissed for 100runs. Rwanda’s strike bowler Eric Dusabemungu and all-rounder Andre Kayitera picked three wickets each while Derrick Bayingana weighed in with two.

The win moved Rwanda back into 9th place while Malawi dropped to the bottom of the table.

Elsewhere, Botswana bounced back from Tuesday’s shock defeat against Malawi by beating Sierra Leone. The gulf in class was there for everyone to see as the West Africans struggled to 36 all out to hand Botswana a 79-run win.
