The government and the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) of South Korea, signed this week signed an agreement that provides a cooperation framework between both countries.

According to the statement, the agreement covers the areas of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and broadcasting.

The Minister in President’s Office in Charge of ICT, Ignace Gatare, signed on behalf of Rwanda while Choi See Joong, Chairman of KCC, signed for Korea, at an event held in Seoul- South Korea.

"We shall collaborate in the critical areas of broadband and internet-protocol networks, cyber security, digital contents production and broadcasting,” Gatare said

The Minister noted that the MoU will encourage the promotion of cooperation and exchanges between businesses, research and educational institutions.

It will also promote cooperation between government agencies, and other organizations while paving way for knowledge transfer through development of relevant skills and best practices.

The bilateral meeting followed the World Information Communications Summit 2011 (WICS 2011) organized in Seoul that brought together Ministers, Vice-Ministers and representatives from 21 countries worldwide.
