Editor,

I read in The New Times, yesterday, about the international electricity conference starting Wednesday, in Kigali and am very pleased and optimistic about this move.

From this conference, I hope that officials do not just exchange pleasantries but sign important deals that will benefit the people by increasing power production in our country.Rwanda’s power production is on the rise.

The government has ensured that the power we produce is equitably distributed and sustainable.
However, the demands are increasing, especially now that investors are flocking into the country.

As we wait on enormous projects like the methane gas project at L. Kivu, I urge the concerned officials to make use of this conference and get the best out of it.

If our economy is to grow more, power production is one of the most important ingredients and that is why I believe this conference might be one of the biggest highlights in this year so far.
