MTN and MTV Networks joined forces in a Pan-African multimedia campaign designed to inspire the youth by connecting them with some of the world’s most influential personalities.

Under the theme "MTV Base Meets…with MTN”, young people from across Africa, will dialogue with political, business and cultural leaders in an eight-part TV series which will start airing on MTV Base May 18.

According to a statement released by MTN, the prominent people who will feature in the coming series, which will hit the airwaves tomorrow are the President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, Liberian President, Ellen Johnson- Sirleaf, South African politician and president of the African National Congress Youth League Julius Malema, and many other African influential personalities, who exercise a significant impact on the continent.

Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, MTV Networks Africa, said the new series would provide young people with the opportunity to engage directly with decision-makers to address some key issues affecting them.

"The initiative demonstrates our belief in the positive impact that the youth can have in shaping the future of the continent, Okosi said.

He added: "We hope that ‘MTV base Meets…with MTN’ will inspire African youth to know that their voice matters and to help prepare them to take their own roles among the leaders of tomorrow.”

The gripping series will keep television viewers - young and old - on the edge of their seats.  A diverse panel of young people representing different youth interests will be assembled from across the African continent, with participants from Rwanda, Cameroon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Uganda, among other countries.

African youth will be encouraged to nominate influencers and submit their proposed questions for the programme via a dedicated ‘MTV base Meets…with MTN’ website, or via their mobile handset.
